Membership Information

CBYC welcomes new members, whether boating or social (Associate).  The Initiation fee is currently $367.50 (includes GST) and annual Membership fee for 2007 is $320.25  (includes GST).  For new members the annual membership fee is prorated throughout the year.  Details are on an application for membership. Applications are available at the Clubhouse during opening hours (see Clubhouse page) or you can download here

Please note that due to our licensing restrictions, minors are not allowed in the Clubhouse

 

Here are the bylaws of CBYC pertaining to membership. 

1.01  The Club shall consist of:

(a)   Full Members each of whom shall:

I.           Be of the age of majority

II.         Be the insured owner of a yacht at the time of admission to the Club.  The owner may be an individual or corporation.

III.       Be a fully paid up subscriber to the current scale of fees, dues, and assessments.

IV.        Enjoy all the rights and privileges of the Club including the rights to vote and hold office. In this respect, the spouse of a Full Member may act in place of, but not concurrently with, that member.

 

(b)      Associate Members each of whom shall:

I.           Be of the age of majority

II.         Not be the insured owner of a yacht at the time of admission to the Club.

III.       Be a fully paid up subscriber to the current scale of fees, dues, and assessments.

IV.        Enjoy all the rights and privileges of the Club except the right to vote or hold office.

 

1.03  For the purposes of this bylaw, a yacht is defined as a sail or power driven vessel with permanent sleeping accommodation, and suitably equipped for overnight cruising by at least two persons.

 

1.04  An Associate Member who becomes the insured owner of a yacht and who does not apply for elevation to Full Member status will forfeit the right to renewal of Associate status at the end of the current year.

 

2.01      Persons may be elected to membership subject to the following:

(a)   Every candidate shall be proposed by one Full Member and seconded by another.

(b)   Each application shall be in such form and provide such information as the Executive may require and shall be accompanied by payment of the initiation fee and prorated dues for the current year.

(c)   The Executive shall promptly investigate the desirability of the candidate and proceed to the election or rejection of the application.  No candidate shall be refused membership by reason of race, national origin, or sex.

 

Immediately upon election, each new member shall be so informed and be provided with copies of the Constitution, Bylaws, and such other regulations as may be in force at the time.
